Mark McLaughlin is Assistant Professor of Law (Research) at the Yong Pung How School of Law, Singapore Management University, with a joint appointment at the Singapore International Dispute Resolution Academy (SIDRA). He has been a trainer for government officials around the world in managing their investment treaty commitments and navigating complex disputes, and coordinates the investment dispute programme of UNCITRAL Academy. In 2026 he was an expert contributor to UNCITRAL Working Group II on Dispute Settlement, the Singapore Cooperation Programme, and is a member of the ISDS Academic Forum. He holds a PhD in International Law from the China University of Political Science and Law and an LL.B. from the University of Glasgow.

His research addresses international economic law and dispute resolution, with particular attention to arbitration and mediation; he has published on investor-state mediation, state-owned enterprises, and the regulation of emerging technologies in leading journals including the Journal of International Economic Law, and ICSID Review. He is co-editor of a forthcoming volume on Global Trends in Mediation, and teaches on Dispute Resolution Advocacy and Foreign Investment Law in Asia.
