Investor-State Dispute Settlement. Courses of the Summer School on Public International Law

This volume contains the lecture materials delivered by Makane Moïse Mbengue, Professor of International Law and Head of the Department of Public International Law and International Organization at the University of Geneva, as part of the 2021 Summer School on Public International Law. The lectures examine investor-state dispute settlement (ISDS) mechanisms, addressing legal foundations, procedural developments, and criticisms of the system. Key topics include arbitration procedures, jurisdictional issues, third-party funding, and ISDS reform initiatives. Special focus is placed on global reform discussions, particularly within UNCITRAL and ICSID, as well as regional approaches to improving the investment dispute resolution system.
