The International and Comparative Law Research Center (ICLRC) is a Russian non-profit research organization established in 2014. The ICLRC specializes in the study, development, and dissemination of knowledge in the field of international law, participates in the work of international organizations as an observer, and creates opportunities for legal research and study.
The Center’s agenda includes general issues of public international law, sustainable development, international trade and investment, digitalization, Eurasian integration, the Arctic region, the World Ocean, etc.
The Center's research is in demand by the most authoritative international organizations. In 2019, ICLRC obtained observer status in three of six The United Nations Commission on International Trade Law working groups at once. ICLRC is the first The United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative Supporting Institution in Russia, and also has accreditation with The United Nations Environment Programme , as well as an observer status in The United Nations Environment Assembly , the UNEP managing body. The Center is also an observer to The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change . In 2026, the ICLRC was awarded The Economic and Social Council Special Consultative Status.
The ICLRC carries out legal research in the selected areas and publishes its results, as well as provides independent expertise to international organizations, business, and State entities, both through speaking at professional events and distributing written materials.
The expert staff of ICLRC includes recognized practitioners; the Center’s team provides overall project team management with experts in various knowledge areas and jurisdictions.
Promoting the study of international law is an important area of the Center's activity, as part of which we organize the competition for the International Law in the XXI Century Award, provide the scholarship to young scholars, and implement a number of other diverse projects.
Our unique Library provides free access to classical and modern printed publications on public and private international law, international arbitration, as well as comparative law in various languages, and also to electronic legal databases.
