Internship Programme
The Internship Programme at the International and Comparative Law Research Center (ICLRC) offers an opportunity to immerse oneself in international law within a professional research environment. Interns become part of the ICLRC team, gaining experience in research and other analytical and project work under the guidance of specialists in the field of public international law. Upon completion of the internship, a certificate is issued.
Internship duration and periods
The internship lasts 3 months.
Time periods in 2026: February–April, June–August, and October–December.
Minor adjustments are permitted in agreement with the ICLRC.
Requirements for candidates
- At least 3 full years of study in the field of law (4th-5th year bachelor's students, 4th-5th year specialist students, 1st-2nd year master's students, postgraduate students, and graduates).
- Completed and passed a course in public international law.
- Fluent in Russian and English.
- Aged 35 or younger.
Internship conditions
- Financial remuneration—100,000 rubles for the entire period.
- Work is mainly full-time (at the ICLRC office).
- Flexible schedule and possibility of partial remote work. For candidates outside of Moscow, remote work is permitted on the condition of on-site work at the ICLRC office in Moscow for at least one working week during the internship period (with partial reimbursement of the intern's actual travel and accommodation expenses up to 50,000 rubles).
- The ICLRC provides resources for work: a workplace, access to a library, and research papers.
Selection stages
1. Application submission
Applications must be submitted by email to internship@iclrc.ru at any time but no later than the deadline specified for each internship period:
- by 20 December – for the February-April period;
- by 31 April – for the period June-August;
- by 31 August – for the period October-December.
The application must specify only one of the proposed internship periods. A new application may be submitted in the following calendar year.
Required documents and information (in Russian or English):
- CV;
- motivation letter (justification of interest in participating in the internship programme and its connection with academic and career plans);
- signed Consent to the processing of personal data and receipt of electronic notifications;
- indication of a reference person in the field of international law (the email address of the reference person should be included so that representatives of the ICLRC may contact them to clarify information about the applicant).
Additionally, the following may be attached:
- certificates confirming the level of knowledge of English and other languages;
- letters of recommendation;
- examples of up to three written (research) papers in Russian or English;
- other documents confirming experience in the field of public international law.
2. Correspondence stage
The Organising Committee reviews all applications participating in the selection process for the internship within the same time period and sends candidates an invitation to take a test or a notification of rejection. No comments on the reasons for rejection are provided.
3. Test assignment
Applicants are invited to complete a written test assignment within the time frame and under the conditions proposed by the Organising Committee. If the deadline for submitting the test assignment is not met, the candidate's submission will not be accepted. After reviewing the answers to the test assignment, the Organising Committee will send candidates an interview invitation or a notification of rejection. No comments will be provided on the reasons for rejection.
4. Interview
Selected candidates will be invited to a meeting (interview) with representatives of the ICLRC. Based on the results, the Organising Committee will send candidates an invitation to participate in the Internship Programme or a notification of rejection. No comments will be provided on the reasons for rejection.
5. Signing of an internship agreement
Successful candidates will sign an internship agreement setting out the terms and conditions of the Internship Programme.
Application for participation
All data (except for the competition paper) must be submitted in Russian
