X. Liao. The Law of Maritime Delimitation as Developed by International Judiciary. Vol. XXI
This volume contains the text of lectures delivered by Ms Xuexia Liao, Assistant Professor at Peking University Law School, as part of the 2024 Summer School on Public International Law. The lectures focus on the law of maritime delimitation: they examine the key principles and trends of the maritime delimitation process, analyse the jurisprudence of UNCLOS dispute-settlement mechanisms. They also address the impact of multiple fora on the development of the law of maritime delimitation and compare the roles of the International Court of Justice and UNCLOS tribunals, in particular with regard to the delimitation of the continental shelf beyond 200 nautical miles.

Dr. Xuexia Liao is assistant professor at Peking University Law School, Beijing. She holds a Ph.D. diploma from Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies, Geneva (2018) and Diploma of Hague Academy of International Law (2016). Her research interests include maritime delimitation, the continental shelf regime, and international dispute settlement. She is author of The Continental Shelf Delimitation beyond 200 Nautical Miles: Towards a Common Approach to Maritime Boundary-Making (CUP 2021) and a number of research articles published by Leiden Journal of International Law, Ocean Development & International Law, and International Journal of Marine and Coastal Law. She also contributes to Max Planck Encyclopedia of Public International Law and serves on the editorial board of Chinese Journal of Environmental Law.
