International Law as a System. Courses of the Summer School on Public International Law

The collection contains the text of lectures by Sir Michael Wood KC, a barrister at Twenty Essex, former Legal Adviser to the United Kingdom’s Foreign and Commonwealth Office, and former member of the International Law Commission, delivered at the Summer School on Public International Law in 2024.

The lectures address international law as a system. They examine the debate on fragmentation and systemic integration in international law, the relationship between "universal", "general", and "particular" international law, as well as current trends in the peaceful settlement of disputes and their significance for the international legal order.
