Mr. Daniel Ramos is a Legal Officer at the World Trade Organization (WTO) Trade and Environment Division. In his capacity, he supports regular activities and negotiations in different committees on trade and environment matters; he also provides legal advice to dispute settlement panels. He currently acts as Secretary to the WTO Dialogue on Plastics Pollution and Environmentally Sustainable Plastics Trade.
Before joining the WTO, Mr. Ramos practiced international economic law at the law firm of former Appellate Body member Luis Olavo Baptista, counselling diverse clients on WTO matters, including the Brazilian government in disputes at the WTO. Mr. Ramos also previously worked as legal research coordinator in the Centre for Global Trade and Investment, a think tank in Brazil.
Mr. Ramos has a large number of publications on WTO issues, which have recently focused on the relationship between trade and climate change. He holds PhDs on International Economic Law at the Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne and at the São Paulo University (USP).
