Igor Makarov
Igor A. Makarov, PhD in Economics, is a Head of the School of World Economy of National Research University Higher School of Economics (HSE) in Moscow. He also directs the Laboratory for Climate Change Economics at the same university. Igor Makarov is the chief editor of journal “Comprehensive World Economy”. He was a visiting scholar at Stanford University (2011) and Harvard University (2016 and 2019), taught at the University of Tehran (2016) and Autonomous University of Madrid (2017).
His research interests cover climate change economics and international political economy. Igor Makarov is a leading author of the World Bank report “Russia and Global Green Transition : Risks and Opportunities” (2021). He is also a contributing author of the Sixth assessment report of IPCC (Working group III, 2022). He is also an author of more than 60 academic papers and numerous columns for Russian business newspapers. Academic papers, reports, columns and interviews of Dr. Makarov have been published in Russia, U.S., Canada, U.K., Austria, Italy, France, Singapore, China, South Korea, India, Iran, and South Africa.
