Dr. Ramón Pichs-Madruga specializes in the academic research of the socio-economic aspects of environmental protection and sustainable development, including the development and assessment of socio-economic and environmental scenarios, as well as methods for the economic assessment of ecosystem services and biodiversity.
Work in IPCC:
Member of the IPCC Bureau since 1997.
At the time of the preparation of the Sixth Assessment Report of the IPCC, he was Vice-Chair of the Working Group III (mitigation and methods of achieving its objectives).
Fluent in Spanish, English, French, and Russian (basic).
He holds a Bachelor's degree in Foreign Trade Economics from the University of Havana, a Master's degree in Social Sciences from Lund University (Sweden), and a Ph.D. in Economics from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM).
