Stefanie Schacherer is Assistant Professor of Law at the Singapore Management University (SMU), Yong Pung How School of Law. Prior to joining SMU, she was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Centre for International Law, National University of Singapore. Her postdoctoral research received funding from the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF).
Prof. Schacherer has published widely on sustainable development and international investment law. Her monograph titled Sustainable Development in EU Foreign Investment Law was published in August 2021 with Brill Nijhoff. She is a member of the UNCITRAL Academic Forum on Investor-State Dispute Settlement and serves as an advisor to the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP).
Prof. Schacherer obtained her Doctorate from the University of Geneva and the University of Vienna. She holds a masters and bachelor of law form the University of Geneva, as well as an LL.M. from King’s College London.
Her research focuses on international trade and investment agreements and their intersection with sustainable development objectives and regulation; EU external relations law; international investment law and arbitration; climate change and energy transition; the social responsibility of multinational corporations and investors; and the participation of civil society in global economic governance.
