Condolences on the death of Professor Vladlen Stepanovich Vereshchetin
It is with deep regret that we have learnt of the death of Professor Vladlen Stepanovich Vereshchetin, Doctor of Law, Honoured Scientist of the Russian Federation, Judge of the International Court of Justice (1995–2006), Member of the Permanent Court of Arbitration (1984–1995), Member (1992–1994) and Chairman (1994) of the International Law Commission.
Vladlen Stepanovich wrote dozens of scientific works on international law, which contributed to the development of a number of branches, including international space law. His role in the formation and development of many generations of international lawyers cannot be overestimated.
Vladlen Stepanovich was especially close to us as the initiator and member of the Council of the International Law in the XXI Century Award. We will fondly remember him and help to fulfil his commandment—to write what the international law of this century should be.
We extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and everyone who knew this outstanding man. His bright and vibrant memory will remain with us forever.
