The ICLRC took part in the 65th session of the UNCITRAL Working Group IV

On April 10 – 14, 2023, the International and Comparative Law Research Center takes part as an observer in the 65th session of the UNCITRAL Working Group IV. The session will include further discussion of the documents A/CN.9/WG.IV/WP.179 – Advancing work on automated contracting and A/CN.9/WG.IV/WP.180 – Default rules for data provision contracts. Previously, the ICLRC prepared and sent comments to the above documents on such issues as concept of automated system, relationship between the contract formation and the electronic interaction of the parties, errors in programming and their consequences, the responsibilities and risks of the parties in the use of automation in contracting. The ICLRC also paid attention to the concept of a “data principal” and the development of draft default rules for data transfer and use contracts.

On April 11, at 20.30 Moscow time the ICLRC and the Ministry of Digital Development of the Kyrgyz Republic organize a side event on the margins of the UNCITRAL Working Group IV. This event is dedicated to creating a regulatory framework for digital transformation in Kyrgyz Republic. The purpose of the event is to exchange experience between experts involved in the development of the draft Digital Code of the Kyrgyz Republic and experts of the UNCITRAL Working Group IV on the automation of transactions in various fields, including those based on artificial intelligence technologies.
