Comparative Legal Methods in Contemporary Research

On 29 May 2025 the International and Comparative Law Research Center organised a workshop, "Comparative Legal Methods in Contemporary Research". The event was aimed at developing data visualisation skills and critical analysis of international legal information among young researchers using modern tools.

The workshop was devoted to the selection of methods for conducting comparative legal research and presenting its results, including the use of the heat map method as a tool for visualisation and analysis. Participants were invited to evaluate the labour intensity and representativeness of various methods of presenting research results. They learnt the principles of evaluation and labelling of analysis results and approaches to grouping and aggregation of research data. The workshop demonstrated the potential of using heat maps for research in international law – from analysing the implementation of international standards to identifying regional legal trends.
