Makane Moïse Mbengue

Makane Moïse Mbengue is a Professor of international law and Head of the Department of Public International Law and International Organization at the Faculty of Law of the University of Geneva. He is also an Affiliated Professor at Sciences Po Paris (School of Law). He holds a Ph.D. in Public International Law from the University of Geneva. Professor Mbengue acts as an expert for international organizations, including the African Union, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, the United Nations Environment Programme, the World Health Organization, the World Bank, the International Labour Organization, the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, the UN Office of the High Commissioner on Human Rights, and others. He also acts as counsel and arbitrator in disputes before international courts and tribunals (in particular, before the International Court of Justice and in investment cases) and as an advisor for governments. Professor Mbengue was elected a Member of the Curatorium of The Hague Academy of International Law in February 2021. He is the author of several publications in the field of international law. Professor Mbengue is an Associate Member of the Institut de Droit International and the President of the African Society of International Law since 2017.
