The ICLRC has been granted observer status under the Convention on Biological Diversity
This status will enable the ICLRC to participate in the work of the Convention’s bodies, including the upcoming Conference of the Parties (COP17), and to follow discussions on key issues related to biodiversity conservation, the sustainable use of its components, and international cooperation in this field.
The new observer status marks an important step in further developing the ICLRC’s expertise in the international legal framework for biodiversity. Among other initiatives, the Center advances its work in this area through its Biodiversity Legal Database, an English-language platform that brings together international legal instruments and international and national case law relevant to biodiversity.
