Start of the Investment Law and Arbitration Lab 2024-2025

On 26 September 2024, the first meeting of the Investment Law and Arbitration Lab 2024–2025 was held. The participants of the Lab’s second set are Natalia Arzhaeva, Anton Zakharov, Evgenia Savelyeva, Ilya Ulyanov, Polina Yataeva.

The Lab is one of the most important projects of the ICLRC, which aims to study various issues of the ISDS reform carried out by UNCITRAL Working Group III and build up expert potential in this area.

Over the next few months, participants will attend lectures and workshops, as well as write papers under the scientific guidance of experts in the field of investment law and arbitration — Anna Kozyakova and Valeria Grebenkova.

During the meeting, Alexey Petrenko, the Center’s Senior Expert on Public International Law, gave a lecture on current trends in international investment law and arbitration. As part of the lecture, the participants considered the historical development of investment law, substantive standards of protection, features of the right to regulation, reform of the ISDS, as well as the interaction of international investment law with such topical issues of international law as climate change, economic sanctions, and the WTO.
