Interview with Ksenia Shestakova

This summer, we launched a new project — a series of interviews with outstanding women experts in international law. Today, we are pleased to present one more interview (in Russian, with English subtitles), this time with Ksenia Shestakova, Associate Professor of International Law at St Petersburg University, PhD in International Law. We recorded it at the SPU Faculty of Law and in the library of the Bestuzhev Courses in St. Petersburg, a landmark place for our conversation, one of the first universities in Russia where women first gained access to legal education.

Ksenia spoke about the first Russian women who struggled to build a career in international law, what challenges women lawyers faced a hundred years ago and still face today, and shared her personal experience of building a professional path.

All interviews from the Women of International Law project can also be listened as a podcast
