ICLRC Granted Special Consultative Status with ECOSOC
The United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) granted special consultative status to the International and Comparative Law Research Center.
ECOSOC is one of the principal organs of the United Nations, responsible for coordinating the Organization’s work in the economic, social, environmental and related fields. The Council serves as an important platform for discussing sustainable development, international cooperation and the UN’s engagement with international community.
Consultative status opens up new opportunities for the ICLRC. It enables the Center to engage with ECOSOC and its subsidiary bodies, the United Nations Human Rights Council and, under the established conditions, to participate in certain meetings of the United Nations General Assembly and other intergovernmental bodies.
Consultative status also provides an opportunity to contribute expert input to discussions within the United Nations system, take part in relevant events and consultations, and submit written statements on matters within the scope of ECOSOC’s work.
For the ICLRC, obtaining special consultative status with ECOSOC marks an important step in the development of its international cooperation.
