Countermeasures and Sanctions. Courses of the Summer School on Public International Law

The lectures delivered by Alina Miron, Professor at the University of Angers, during the 2019 Summer School on Public International Law, focus on countermeasures and unilateral coercive measures in international law. They examine their legal nature, conditions of lawfulness, and the principle of proportionality. The lectures explore the legality of unilateral coercive measures, their role in international relations, and the distinction between countermeasures, sanctions, and coercive measures. International court practice and the impact of these mechanisms on the international legal system are also discussed.
